Noida Metro: ‘Quick trains’ to skip 10 stations throughout peak hours to cut back journey time

With a purpose to cut back the journey time of Aqua Line commuters, the Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) on Tuesday stated it has determined to introduce “quick trains” which is able to skip stations having low ridership throughout peak hours. The initiative shall be carried out in February, NMRC Managing Director Ritu Maheshwari stated in an announcement.

She stated Metro practice providers ranging from terminal stations (Sector 51 Station and Depot Station) from eight am to 11 am and 5 pm to eight pm on weekdays i.e., Monday to Friday shall be “quick trains”.

“Of the 21 stations on the Aqua Line, 10 stations shall be skipped by these quick trains throughout peak hours,” Maheshwari stated.

The stations which shall be skipped are Sector – 50, Sector – 101, Sector – 81, Sector – 83, Sector – 143, Sector – 144, Sector – 145, Sector – 146, Sector – 147 and Sector 148 Metro Stations, she stated.

QR Tickets is not going to be offered at these stations and for these stations throughout ‘quick trains’ operating hours, she added.

“The typical run time of the Aqua Line from Sector 51 Metro Station in Noida to Depot Station in Better Noida and vice versa is 45 minutes 43 seconds (a method), which shall be decreased to 36 minutes 40 seconds, thereby saving round 9 minutes of journey time for the Aqua Line commuters,” the NMRC chief stated.

“The run time between Sector 51 Metro station (having highest ridership) and Pari Chowk Metro Station (having second highest ridership), which is presently 37 minutes, will even turn into 28 minutes 30 seconds with the skipping of stations,” she stated.

Nevertheless, Maheshwari stated the frequency of trains from Monday to Friday will stay the identical i.e., 7.5 minutes throughout peak hours and 10 minutes in non-peak hours.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Aqua Line trains will proceed to run at a frequency of 15 minutes with no skipping of stations, she added.

Sufficient efforts are being made by NMRC to generate consciousness among the many basic public relating to the schedule of Quick Trains and the stations that shall be skipped, in accordance with the assertion.

Signages indicating the timings of regular and quick trains and the record of stations that shall be skipped shall be displayed in any respect the Metro stations of the Aqua Line. Common bulletins on this regard will even be made contained in the stations and the trains, it added.
