The “Through Day of Motion” was initially scheduled on Sept. 9, however was postponed as a result of loss of life of Queen Elizabeth II. The rally has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, on the Through Rail station at 563 Division St. from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Supported by Northumberland-Peterborough South MP Philip Lawrence and MPP David Piccini, the occasion is asking the corporate to revive Prepare 651 which served the Toronto to Kingston hall. The route was suspended throughout the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic attributable to a drop in ridership. It’s one of some to have been restored when routes have been reopened this summer season.
An intensive survey was launched this month highlighting japanese Ontario residents’ excessive curiosity in using the route and potential future new customers. Entitled “The Case for Getting VIA Prepare 651 Again on Observe,” the report was a joint mission of municipalities in Japanese Ontario that features the counties of Northumberland and Hastings, and the cities of Quinte West, Belleville and Kingston.
Through Rail has acknowledged it continues to evaluation a dozen routes that didn’t return in June, together with Prepare 651.
