Southwestern Ontario drug trafficking probe ends with 26 facing 111 charges, OPP say  |

A sprawling drug trafficking investigation involving a number of OPP detachments in southwestern Ontario has netted a complete of 111 fees in opposition to 26 folks, provincial police introduced Thursday.

The litany of fees comes after officers carried out 9 search warrants at areas in Gray, Huron, Perth and Bruce counties and in Owen Sound on Wednesday within the probe, dubbed Mission Carlina, which started within the spring.

Police say their investigation, which concerned members of the OPP’s organized crime enforcement bureau and group road crime unit, was launched in Might in response to an increase in drug overdoses in Bruce, Gray, Huron and Perth counties.

Wednesday’s raids have been the fruits of that investigation with 26 folks, ranging in age from 21 to 66, charged with a wide range of drug possession and drug trafficking-related counts, police mentioned.

In all, police say they seized roughly $25,600 price of medicine, together with 160 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, 60 grams of suspected cocaine, six grams of suspected carfentanyl, greater than 80 morphine capsules, and greater than 140 hydromorphone capsules.

A 62-year-old Georgian Bluffs man faces 26 fees, by far probably the most of these arrested, together with 12 counts for possessing property obtained by crime, and 5 for trafficking a Schedule I substance, particularly methamphetamine.
