Torque Metals is eagerly awaiting assay results after completing its phase 5 drilling campaign at the company’s flagship Paris gold project with the aim of extending the 900m high-grade gold structure at the operation.

The explorer’s recent 4855m RC drill campaign was also exploring shallow mineralisation at its HHH and Observation prospects that form part of the greater Paris project.

Torque believes Paris has the potential to become a significant gold camp, hosting several deposits within a broader mineralised system consisting of parallel structures and splays controlled by the Boulder Lefroy system.

Previous exploration by Torque has highlighted a 2.5km gold corridor between Observation and Paris that includes the HHH prospect.

HHH and Observation have previously returned significant results including 9m at 11.6 g/t gold from 66m and 6m going 8.45 g/t gold from 51m.

Torque’s exploration strategy of using historical drilling records, machine learning algorithms, and geological interpretation has uncovered the potential for new, mineralised formations, largely parallel to those described at Paris, Observation and HHH.

Data analysis in addition to recent assay results has identified a potential opportunity for Torque to link its historic Paris and HHH gold mines and increase its overall Paris gold project resource.

Over the past 12 months the company has extended the high-grade gold zone of its flagship project from 250m to more than 900m after receiving the final assays of its fourth phase of drilling at the site.

Highlights include a 30m hit at 7 grams per tonne gold from 168m and a 27m intercept going 8.16 g/t gold from 156m. Another 24m section recorded an impressive 10.7 g/t gold from 156m whilst a shallower 17m hit returned 3.94 g/t gold from 110m.

The operation lies along strike and in the same Boulder-Lefroy fault corridor as the 20 million-plus gold ounce Kalgoorlie Super Pit. Several other significant gold deposits sit along the Boulder-Lefroy fault corridor, including the Paddington deposit hosting 11 million ounces of gold and the Kanowna Belle deposit that houses more than 7 million ounces.

Despite its successful exploration campaign over the past 12 months, Torque says its Paris gold project remains vastly underexplored with historical drilling mainly restricted to the top 50m.

In November the company increased the footprint of its Paris project after completing an 80 per cent earn-in of Jindalee Resources’ adjacent 75 square kilometre Maynard’s Dam prospect. The acquisition takes the total area of Paris to around 176 square kilometres and adds around 12km of prospective strike to the north. Historical drilling at Maynard’s Dam returned results including a 4m hit at 21.1 grams per tonne gold from 22m.

Torque says it is expecting the results from its phase 5 drill campaign early next month with the assays expected assist the explorer to map out the sixth phase drilling program.
