India test fires DRDO’s Rudram-1, first indigenous anti-radiation missile

India efficiently test-fired Rudram-1, a brand new technology anti-radiation missile developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), at Balasore in Odisha round 10:30 AM on Friday. India’s first indigenously developed anti-radiation missile was test-fired on the built-in test vary. The missile has a velocity of Mach two or twice the velocity of sound, that will probably be a part of the tactical weaponry of the Indian Air Force.

Indian Air Force officers informed PTI that after the missile is prepared for induction, it’s prone to be built-in with the Sukhoi fighter jets of the Indian Force. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO on profitable test firing of the missile.

“New Generation Anti-Radiation Missile (Rudram-1) which is India’s first indigenous anti-radiation missile developed by @DRDO_India for Indian Air Force was tested successfully today at ITR, Balasore. Congratulations to DRDO & other stakeholders for this remarkable achievement,” he tweeted.

In May final 12 months, the Indian Air efficiently test-fired the aerial model of the BrahMos missile from a Su-30 MKI fighter plane.

The BrahMos missile offers the IAF a much-desired functionality to strike from giant stand-off ranges on any goal at sea or on land with pinpoint accuracy by day or night time and in all climate situations.

The IAF can also be integrating the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile on over 40 Sukhoi fighter jets which is geared toward bolstering general fight functionality of the power.
