Filmmakers Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan are becoming a member of arms to present the Tamil movie anthology “Navarasa”, based mostly on the 9 rasas or feelings for Netflix, the streamer introduced on Wednesday. The 9 brief movies will narrate tales throughout 9 feelings – anger, compassion, braveness, disgust, worry, laughter, love, peace and marvel.

Directors Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad and Halitha Shameem are on board “Navarasa” to deliver their distinctive perspective on every rasa.

The proceeds from the movies will go in the direction of the well-being of movie staff in Tamil cinema impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, a press launch stated.

Ratnam and Panchapakesan stated they’ve all the time beloved to brainstorm and provide you with distinctive concepts to elevate cash for deserving causes.

“This time the brainstorming was for the cause of our own industry, to soothe and try and alleviate to some extent the agony of our people who had no work for months. The idea of making short films and raising money through them for this cause was born on one such brainstorming evening. We were thrilled when the idea resonated well instantly with leading directors, actors and technicians of the industry that we approached.

“The thought of ”Navarasa” was a spark once we mentioned it and the trade has come collectively to make it glow, give it soul and make it rely for its individuals. We are blissful that Netflix has come ahead to take this confluence of emotion, expertise, individuals and the trigger to the world,” the filmmakers said in a joint statement.

Srishti Arya, Director, International Original Film, Netflix India said the streamer is “thrilled” to be the house to these 9 extraordinary movies.

“We admire how this excellent ensemble of filmmakers and expertise have joined arms to help the artistic group. ”Navarasa” is a celebration of the craft of filmmaking and the magic of Tamil cinema that we will’t wait to take to the world,” she said.

“Navarasa” will be the second Tamil anthology project set up at Netflix after “Paava Kadhaigal”, which was introduced earlier this month.
