The Goa authorities will take a call on reopening colleges solely after consulting all of the stakeholders together with lecturers, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated. Teachers’ associations are against restarting bodily lessons instantly, fearing it will be not possible to keep up social distancing in colleges.

Amid rising coronavirus circumstances, the security of scholars is of paramount significance, Sawant advised PTI over the weekend.

Sawant stated he has requested the state schooling secretary and director of schooling to carry consultations with stakeholders, together with faculty administration, parent-teacher associations and lecturers’ our bodies such because the Goa Headmasters’ Association and Goa Principals’ Forum.

The choice to reopen colleges will probably be taken solely after getting approvals from all of the stakeholders and placing essential Standard Operating Procedures in place, he stated.

Sawant had held consultations with the stakeholders in the final week of September, and it was then determined that colleges is not going to reopen instantly from October 1.

Sawant stated the Goa authorities is considering of beginning lessons of requirements 10th and 12th first, if and when it decides to reopen colleges.

Teachers’ associations opposed quick reopening of colleges throughout a gathering with Director of Education Santosh Amonkar, sources stated.

Maintaining social distancing in colleges on a regular basis is troublesome, lecturers’ representatives stated.

“None of the schools have the infrastructure to conduct classes while maintaining social distancing. There are common toilets for students, with hundreds of them sharing a single facility in many schools. This will further spread the viral infection,” a consultant of the Goa Headmasters’ Association stated. Teachers are already holding lessons on-line and in some circumstances even visiting college students at their properties, he stated.
