A bunch of Zomato meals supply platform staff in Kolkata tore and burnt their official T-shirts to protest Chinese funding in the agency. The agitation comes in the backdrop of the killing of 20 Indian troopers in a conflict with Chinese troops in jap Ladakh’s Galwan Valley on June 15.
During the protest at Behala in the southwestern a part of the town on Saturday, some agitators claimed they’ve give up their jobs as Zomato has a sizeable Chinese funding and urged folks to cease ordering meals through the corporate.
“Chinese companies are making profits from here and attacking the Army of our country. They are trying to grab our land. This cannot be allowed,” one of many protesters stated.
Another protester stated they have been prepared to starve however wouldn’t work for corporations which have funding from China.
In May, Zomato laid off 520 staff or 13 per cent of its workforce in an enormous retrenchment train due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
There was no quick response from Zomato and whether or not the protesters have been amongst those that have been retrenched was not identified.
